Subject Offered: Principles of Accounts
Curriculum
Principles of Accounts (POA) is designed to provide students with a meaningful basic introduction to financial accounting and to develop an appreciation of the discipline of accounting. It is grounded in preparing, communicating and using financial information, and appreciating the need for ethical conduct. The subject places emphasis on the understanding and application of accounting knowledge to develop lifelong skills and values that will be of value in the increasingly complex world of business.
This subject forms part of a broad-based education to equip students with strong fundamentals for future learning.
In line with the framework of learning Principles of Accounts as an important foundation subject, our department organises a series of enrichment activities to stimulate students' interest and inquisitiveness towards the subject.

Crime Scene Investigation using Mathematics (20 October)
As part of the school’s post-exam activities, Secondary Two students worked on a scenario of a hit-and-run accident where they have to apply their mathematical knowledge to solve the crime. The students collaborated in groups and raced against the clock to interpret the various evidence found.
Through the activity, students enjoyed the knowledge discovery process and experienced how Mathematics can be applied to the real world context.

Secondary 2 Mathematics Trail (28 May)
The Secondary 2 students embarked on a learning trail where they were given the opportunities to connect mathematics that they have learnt in school to the real world. Through a visit to the supermarket and a game of bowling, the students learnt to work collaboratively with their peers to construct new knowledge and, at the same time, solve problems
Students comparing prices at the supermarket before making their decision
Students engaged in a discussion with their teacher at the supermarket
Students exploring the best type of graphs to present their scores while having a game of bowling
